Young movie makers win awards
UCKFIELD Picture House hosted The Uscars.
For the second year running Uckfield Community Technology College sixth form film and media students took part in a celebration of film making.
Winners included year 12 film student Kellie Irwin who won the fiction award for political thriller Target; year 12 media students George Barker, Cameron Giles, Adam Harris and Shaun Pimley for the Louis Theroux-influenced documentary Shaun Pimley Gets Down Wid It and year 13 film student Doug Dalziel who scooped best year 13 film and best director for the epic horror Jamboree.
As a special prize, local video production company Doghound Productions was on hand to offer the double award winner the chance to produce a new short film using its film resources.
Doug said: 'It's a great honour to be awarded - next stop Hollywood.'
Teacher Carla Taylor was full of praise for the students.
She said: 'It was a fantastic afternoon which really highlighted their creativity and talent.'
