HOT sunny weather doesn't suit everyone in Lewes, and one of the town's nocturnal residents found herself in the wrong place and most definitely at the wrong time.
A young female whiskered bat ended up stuck in Lewes High Street above the door of the Sussex Express offices on one of the hottest and brightest days of the year.

Fortunately, help was at hand from Trevor Weeks from the East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service.

He was able to take the bat to the safety of a bat hospital in Forest Row, but not before she flew across the road into Tizz's shop.

However, after a bit of patience and the removal of one of the shop's window displays, she was soon out of the daylight and on her way to the Sussex Bat Hospital.

She was given fluid and a chance to calm down and the following night staff from the hospital took her back to Lewes where she was released close to a known colony of whiskered bats.
